Warriors News · Softball: Coach Belcher

  1. Name – Coach Belcher

  2. Spring Sport – Softball

  3. Years of Coaching  – 15 years as varsity softball coach at WCHS

  4. What is your favorite memory of your seniors from the previous season? – I started coaching this group of seniors when they played 10u softball.  We have spent a lot of time together, and they have given me a ton of great memories!  I can recall outstanding games for each of them and championships they were a part of (from 10u through HS).  I will also remember fun times on the team bus together, pitcher-catcher workouts and breakfasts, loud dugouts, and passing time in rain delays.  I have great memories from our team camp each summer including pranks, lip syncs, and sitting around the fire with visiting racoons!  I also have many memories from our Chicago trip a few years ago.

  5. What will you miss the most about your season being cancelled? – I miss being with my players and my assistant coaches every day.  I enjoy working with our team, interacting with everyone, and seeing them work hard and improve.  I love watching them compete and do their thing on game days.  I miss all of that!  Our team for 2020 was loaded with experience and potential.  They might have been one of the best softball teams our school has seen… I wish they would have gotten the opportunity to show what they could do together.

  6. What is your favorite type of music/artist? – My tops are Chicago, Billy Joel, and REO Speedwagon, but I like today’s country music too.

  7. What is your favorite movie(s)? – Hidden Figures, Blind Side, Remember the Titans, and Facing the Giants.  I just saw a good movie last week called “Greater.”

  8. What is your favorite sports team to follow? – The Chicago Cubs!

  9. What advice would you give underclass student-athletes and other coaches? – Find what you love to do and work hard to do it to the best of your ability every day.
